What Do Effective Schools Do?

What Do Effective Schools Do?

Today’s educational leaders find themselves caught in the “eye of the storm” when it comes to school reform. Some of the voices are saying, “Do this!” and others are saying, “Don’t do that!” Some say, “Buy this program!” and others say, “Don’t buy that program!” How should these leaders cut through the chaos of these competing voices and find a sensible path forward? Many find themselves asking the question, “What do the most effective schools do?”

In fact, research shows that the most effective schools are more alike than they are different. In fact, there are fundamental characteristics so common among successful schools that they have come to be known as the Correlates of Effective Schools. The Correlates have served as the foundation for the transformation of many struggling schools. Dr. Larry Lezotte, one of the original researchers who identified the Correlates, has spent more than 30 years bringing his message of hope and help to thousands of schools and districts. You can benefit from Dr. Lezotte's vast knowledge and experience through his consulting and training services.
